A new game called ModNation Racers, announced at ony’s E3 press conference, is set to exploit the main selling points of LittleBigPlanet, in that it, too, contains elements of the eponymous ‘Create/Play/Share’ catchphrase accompanying the creative platformer from Media Molecule.

ModNation Racers, on the other hand, is a kart-syle racing game in which you can either play through the pre-created campaign content worked on by the developers (described as a “a humorous story with a wealth of pre-made characters, karts, tracks and challenges for all players”), or you can try your hand at creating something of your own, be it a new character, race car or even your own race track.

As shown in Sony’s press conference, you can easily build your own track in a few minutes, using a ‘painting’ tool to lay down the course, and place additional scenery (including sunsets) into the level. Once you’re done, you can upload your creation to the PlayStation Network for the entire ModNation Racers community to see.
