El33tonline had hands-on time with Nintendo’s Wii MotionPlus at the launch of EA Sports Grand Slam Tennis yesterday, but the good news is that you will also be able to get your hands on this new accessory soon. Wii MotionPlus will be available across South Africa this Friday, the 12th of June. It will be available separately for R349.99, and it will also be bundled with two upcoming titles. Wii MotionPlus will include a new Wii Remote Jacket since the new white accessory clips on to the bottom of the Wii Remote, making it slightly longer.
Wii MotionPlus will be bundled with EA Sport’s Grand Slam Tennis, also available in stores this Friday, the 12th of June, as well as with Wii Sports Resort, which will be launching in South Africa on the 24th of July, in line with the European launch date that was recently announced at Nintendo’s E3 press conference. Wii Sports Resort will be bundled with Wii MotionPlus and will retail at the recommended retail price of R699.00. It will not be available as a standalone purchase. However, Grand Slam Tennis will be available as either standalone for R499.00 or bundled with Wii MotionPlus for R699.00.
Wii MotionPlus promises to take the motion-sensing controls of the Wii to new levels of precision and performance. When used in combination with specially designed games (the aforementioned Wii Sports Resort and Grand Slam Tennis as well as Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 and Virtua Tennis 2009) Wii MotionPlus tracks a player’s movements in finer details and with greater accuracy than before.
From the time we spent playing Grand Slam Tennis with the new accessory yesterday, we can say that Wii MotionPlus does add accuracy to the game, enabling players to control the direction of the ball more accurately, as well as the speed of the shot and, perhaps more importantly, the placement of the shot. Not only did this increase the fun factor of the game but it also fuelled my competitive streak.
Core Gaming has assured us that stores will be getting their stock during the course of this week, so make sure that you secure your Wii MotionPlus this weekend before lacing up your sneakers and hitting the court in Grand Slam Tennis.
